I have always liked a wide variety of musical genres. Though my heart belongs to the 60s and 70s – I hit a 30′s faze in middle school where I became obsessed with swing music. High school was my 80s and 90s faze complete with hair bands and cheesy ballads. Currently, I’m living in the present, basking in the glory that is the NYC indie music scene. Sure, I indulge in some Rihanna every now and again (who doesn’t), but I’d like to think pop is just as valid a genre as any. Music doesn’t have pretensions.
I am now the Production Manager at Relix Magazine, a magazine TRULY dedicated to the live music scene. I do a lot of posts about the happenings in the office whether it be about cool in-office performances from up and coming artists or typical office hilarities shared between this particularly unique group of people.
Photography is something I picked up because of music. I became obsessed with capturing great moments of great artists and parlayed that into capturing great moments of great people. As a journalist, people have always fascinated me so I tend to focus my photography on profiles. In my time in Accra, Ghana, I was able to meet some extraordinary people who I was able to photograph, furthering my obsession.
Food is another obsession. I love to eat. In New York, there are so many great places to check out – it would be a crime not to share my findings with others. Occasionally, (when I have the time) I cook. I like to try lots of different things; usually sans recipes. Mostly I just put things together and hope they taste good.
My relationship with clothing and fashion is the result of a serious shopping problem. Sometimes, I find myself rationalizing why I need something (the first sign of addiction). But I just can’t help it. It’s one of my oldest passions and living in New York has only made it worse (recovering shopaholics – AVOID NYC AT ALL COSTS). I like mixing textures and patterns and after finally accepting that I’m slightly tall, I now love buying heels.
In short, I live a beautiful life filled great passions and equally great people.
